Migrating an iSymphony instance to a new machine involves performing a fresh installation on the new machine while backing up the configuration from the old machine and restoring it on the new one.

= Migration Procedure =

1. Back up all files in **/opt/isymphony/server/config**.
1. If you are using a FreePBX based system with the iSymphony FreePBX module and changes were made to the iSymphony configuration in FreePBX you will need to back up the FreePBX database, via the backup mechanism in FreePBX, as well if you want those changes to carry over. This step is not required for the migration.
1. Perform a fresh installation of iSymphony on the new machine.\\
11. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony Installation and Update Guide.FreePBX, Elastix and Trixbox Installation.WebHome]] for FreePBX based systems.
11. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony Installation and Update Guide.Asterisk Server (Vanilla) Installation.WebHome]] for all other types of installations.
1. Make sure the iSymphony serve is not running. If the server is running shut it down. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony Administrator's Guide.Starting, Stopping and Restarting the Server.WebHome]].
1. Restore all files in /opt/isymphony/server config on the new machine.
1. Start the iSymphony server. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony Administrator's Guide.Starting, Stopping and Restarting the Server.WebHome]].
1. If you performed step 2 restore the FreePBX database now and reload FreePBX.
1. If you have a license that needs to be migrated open a ticket at [[https:~~/~~/www.getisymphony.com/support/>>url:https://www.getisymphony.com/support/||shape="rect"]] and make a request to release your license. Make sure to include the serial key of the license you wish to move.
1. You will have to re-install the iSymphony clients as Java Web Start will still be referencing the old server as the client resource location. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony Installation and Update Guide.Client Installation and Uninstallation.WebHome]].
1. You will also have to reconfigure the clients to point to the new server. See [[doc:iSymphony 2\.8 Documentation.iSymphony User's Guide.Profiles.WebHome]].
