DND state not reporting correctly when using a FreePBX based phone system

Symptoms

When setting DND state on an extension via the panel or feature code the panel does not reflect the proper DND state.

Cause

In order for iSymphony to detect DND state DND device state hints must be enabled.

Resolution

Turn on custom device state hints in FreePBX:

  1. Log into FreePBX
  2. Navigate to Settings->Advance Settings
  3. Locate the setting Enable Custom Device States
  4. Set the value to True.
  5. Click the green checkbox next to the setting.
  6. Select Apply Config at the top of the screen.
