Overview

This document covers how to upgrade the optional Desktop Client Module, on an existing iSymphony server installation. If you have not yet installed the iSymphony server see Getting Started. If you have not yet installed the Desktop Client Module see Desktop Client Module Installation.

Warning

The Desktop Client Module requires an iSymphony Server version of 3.2.1 or higher.

Information

Due to the size of the Desktop Client Module, it is provided as a separate download from the main iSymphony Server.

1. Download The Latest Desktop Client Module

The desktop client module downloads can be found in the Downloads Archive. You will want to download the Desktop Client Module package on the server that is running the iSymphony server.

2. Uninstall The Old Desktop Client Module

The upgrade process for the Desktop Client Module is simply a matter of un-installing the old version and installing the new version.

  1. Stop the iSymphony server. See Starting And Stopping The iSymphony Server.
  2. Remove or move the following directory from the /opt/isymphony3/server/modules directory.

    /opt/isymphony3/server/modules/desktop

3. Install The New Desktop Client Module

  1. Install the new version of the module. See Desktop Client Module Installation.
  2. Start the iSymphony server. See Starting And Stopping The iSymphony Server.

4. Upgrade The Desktop Client Installations

Restart all the Desktop Client installations, on the client machines, to initiate the upgrade. You should be prompted to upgrade when you launch the client.
