Symptoms
The error message below appears in the iSymphonyServer.out.log file:
Unknown macro: noformat. Click on this message for details.
This problem will also prevent the iSymphony server from connecting to the Asterisk server, as in Not connected to Asterisk Server.
Cause
Older versions of Asterisk 1.4 have a bug which causes the Asterisk server to fail to send a response to an iSymphony request for the current state of the phone system when first connecting. This prevents iSymphony from continuing to connect to the Asterisk server.
Workaround
Restarting the Asterisk server process generally clears the issue within Asterisk, allowing iSymphony to continue operation.
Resolution
This issue does not occur in Asterisk systems running versions 1.6 and higher. Upgrade Asterisk to one of these versions if possible to completely resolve the problem.
